testing)
There are two different testing options for DNA testing
brothers.
1. Y Chromosome testing. NZ$595 for 2 persons ($175
for each extra person)
Y chromosome testing is used to see if two or more
male persons have the same biological father. If you
also (or only) wish to know if they have the same Mother,
then you additionally require a mitochondrial DNA test,
or a Full Sibling DNA test.
Y chromosome testing is your least expensive option
while obtaining very high accuracy (99.9 %+). All men
have one Y chromosome and pass that same Y chromosome
to all their sons. Therefore, we can test accuracy the
Y chromosome and deduce if they have the same male ancestor
(i.e.. can also use Y chromosome test for grandfather-grandson,
uncle-nephew, etc.)
If you want to test if two brothers have the same mother,
then a Y chromosome test is not sufficient, and you
will require a full sibling to sibling DNA test.

2. Mitochondrial DNA test. NZ$595 for 2 persons ($175
for each extra person)
Mitochondrial
DNA testing is used to see if two or more male persons
have the same biological mother.
Mitochondrial
DNA is passed down from Mother to children. So, brothers
to the same mother will have the exact same mitochondrial
DNA.
